The game is straight up playable on Ubuntu 20.04 with GNOME desktop, with some issues.
Windowed mode can't easily resize window size due to title screen being trapped at the top bar of screen
Out-of-the-box experience, not perfect but playable enough
Input delay is barely noticeable
Gameplay is OK, but don't expect window dancing levels to work in GNOME.
Window dancing levels generally laggy
Unreliable input offset
Windowed mode only, and on window dancing levels
The game works just nice, however there are some major issues on testing it with GNOME 3.38.5. In general:
- Window dancing charts are generally have terrible issues of losing focus. Can be reproduced easily on 2-X, the pinnacle of window dancing chart.
- Offset configuration is unreliable, as the offset can jump from +100 to +30 during setup process.
Game might work better with other Desktop Environment. Just don't play with modern GNOME, especially on window dancing levels.

Some songs have its textures/effect missing, due to being run on Proton
Songs with high notes count causes heavy lag at the start of song, which dissipates as the song ends
Running on GE Proton is essential for some effects to appear. The recent game update drops the FPS by a lot due to updated GameMaker runtime, and might be better on future update.

At this state, on my PC, it's not enjoyable to play high difficulty songs with Linux.
