The game runs out of the box easily. Using Glorious Eggroll Proton 7.0 helps but is not necessary unless you get audio crackling.
Under Proton Experimental I still get crackling but using Glorious Eggroll Proton 7.0rc6-GE-1 I have not experienced any crackling anymore.
I have tested this game on many distros and most of them do not have the audio crackling when using proton experimental. Arch distros definitely have the audio crackling fixed for instance. Otherwise just use Glorious Eggroll Proton 7.0rc6-GE-1 to fix audio crackling.
installing this game out of the box has significant issues. Enable Steam Play for best experience.
When testing this game between Windows and Linux Mint the game saves do not carry over. It is suggested to turn the cloud saving off on Linux to prevent corrupting your Linux/Windows saves.
Some shuddering once and a while even after processing Vulkan shaders.
DirectX 12 does not work at all. When switching to DX12 it crashes the game on boot.
To play this game reliably on Linux you must enable Steam Play on Linux Mint 20.3. The Linux native version has many issues like significant studdering when moving the mouse and window placement issues. As for as I can tell all versions of proton work including Glorious Eggroll Proton. Hope this helps anyone who enjoys this game.
The editor starts out fine you wouldn't notice anything is wrong but then over time menues start to take longer and longer to appear. The only remody to this is restarting the editor.
Using any version other then proton 6.3-8 suffers from tool tips showing up blank.
It is almost there just a few more bugs to work out and this will be perfect.
Be sure if you are running the same hardware as me and OS to change to proton 8.0-2 or the EA App will not install properly. I have had no other issues with this game so far.
Works after initially starting game with proton 7 and than switching to a higher proton version.
I had to use proton 7 to be able to install this game due to the EA app. Once the EA app is installed you can than chose any proton version above 7 and the game starts and runs perfectly fine.
