5.21-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
5.21-GE-1
No sound w/ vanilla proton
Since an update this summer where the game's Unreal Engine version was upgraded, I had no sound in any version of proton, vanilla or custom. The game runs perfectly out of the box otherwise.
I'm not much of a tinkerer so I pretty much dropped it, hoping some new version of Proton would fix it eventually.
Turns out Glorious Eggrolls new build 5.21-GE-1 brought the sound back!

Works like a charm out of the box.
Since this game does not allow remapping of controls, if you daily a non-QWERTY keyboard layout, you will have to tinker a bit to have a pleasurable experience.
Switching layouts with Super+Space won't do, since programs running through Proton/Wine have a hard time keeping track of that. You must put a QWERTY layout on top of your list of available layouts, so that QWERTY is system default. You may then switch to your preferred layout. Your system should remember on every startup which layout was last in use, so you should not need to switch every time.
No matter which one is selected, Wrench controls will use the one on top of the list. What's even better is that for some reason the search boxes in the game will however use the currently selected layout! So you have the best of both worlds: the required QWERTY layout for controls, but your daily layout for typing!
Works fine out of the box. Steady 75 to 80 fps, no issues at all!
The game works great no complaints besides the fact that some metal surfaces will sometimes have a grainy look to them.
Some of the chrome/metal reflections have minor artifacts.

Absolutely no tweaks or configuration needed, ran full-screen at high settings with performance seemingly equivalent to Windows (by sight and feel, not measured). No graphical, audio or input errors encountered. Note: Did NOT test the VR mode, only tested the regular mode with keyboard and mouse.
