The game ran smoothly on my Steamdeck. To bypass the keyboard issue at the beginning, just don't change the main character's name.

Works flawlessly save for being unable to input a name at the start with the deck's keyboard

Could not get the game to register the Steam Deck's keyboard at the start, typing yielded no results. Had to start the game on my PC, change my name on there, exit, then use the steam cloud to get that save file onto my Deck and play that
