Harware report not accurate due to using primusrun (via pvkrun) on a mobility card. (NvidiaGTX 950m).
battleye would not install - to fix and play single player i had to "browse local files" to ~/[path]/steamapps/common/Outlaws of the Old West/Outlaws/Binaries/Win64/ and rename Outlaws-Win64-Shipping_BE.exe to Outlaws-Win64-Shipping_BE.exe.bak and then rename Outlaws-Win64-Shipping.exe to Outlaws-Win64-Shipping_BE.exe to get the game to launch.
after that and toning down the graphics to the lowest the game ran with poor jumpy fps (more a reflection of my hardware than anything), will try a few more configurations and try and get it better.
could be that its early access, but model textures sometimes looked a bit borked.
Mouse sensitivity off the chart! had to put it to 0.1 and it was still hard to shoot stuff with a bow. Instead had to resort to melee to kill a bighorn haha. I suspect there maybe some tweaks i could discover here looking at other games with same engine.
I run higher spec games without trouble (e.g witcher 3 gives me 30 - 60 fps depending on whats on screen). This was not great, but i still have a few more proton tweaks to try.
Game won′t launch because Battleye fails to initialize
Runs OK, some minor issues
Sometimes any interaction with the environment stopped working (opening doors, accessing containers, ...). Most of the time opening/closing of inventory fixed it.
Some lags when running game on one screen with another screen present. No issues in single screen setup.
Runs out of the box Problems only because of early access
Plays well, average is around 44fps, with all settings on HIGH. Only issue appears to be a lot of microstutter. There are lag spikes galore at times, yet that appears to be the game itself, as I play on a server with others, all Win Users, and they get the same lag spikes. Only other thing I have seen, is when you get disconnected from the server, due to a unanounced server restart, the game exits with a Win error. Would put gold, but followed the info for "Silver" rating. FYI no Anti-Cheat for game as of yet, so beware.
Performance not as good as windows and you may get a weird issue where the game will never totally fullscreen 100% and it'll shave off the bottom ~5% of the image (You can see you desktop/whatever window you have open behind the game).
Other than that everything else worked for me
Ran the game at low settings, fullscreen and changed to 720p. This resulted in playable framerates between 30-40fps. No major issues. I did no other tweaks beside DRI_PRIME=1 on the launch options to force my dGPU.
The game is slow to load, but it's just as slow in Windows. Let the game launch with no tweaks at all, or the single player loading screen will run forever. I have not gotten this past the character creation dialog with proton 3, but it loaded right up with 4.
