works for me with the 8.0-2 proton version without any issues. experimental and even GE crashes the game or dont even start it
Unknown(< 1 hour with Proton)I've meanwhile tried to play the game with the WINE media foundation workaround installed ( https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install - the game's wine prefix is WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/809720/pfx ).
This makes most of the game's videos play, but sadly some are still missing, for instance one of the videos in the building tutorial. So, installing the media foundation workaround definitely improves the experience, but not enough to bring it to Gold.

Unknown(< 1 hour with Proton)I have meanwhile tried the game on Windows, and sadly must report that there is one issue not mentioned up to now with Steam Play: In-Game videos do not work. The "black screen" at startup is actually the intro video. The main menu background, which is black with Steam Play, is actually a video file playing. When opening the "build" menu, the tutorial boxes are not missing text, they are missing videos. So, yeah, the game is certainly playable, but some tutorial steps will not be properly shown...

Also, the already reported black screen that can be worked around by just clicking or pressing ESC. Once ingame, everything seems to be working fine.

Black Screen when you start the game, just press esc and the menu comes up. Sound broke one time and got the low fps warning twice despite high fps, might as well just be a game issue.
Runs perfectly out of the box. No tweaks needed. I had a blackscreen on startup but could get around it by pressing ESC. Apart from that, nothing to complain about.
