Game is completely unplayable, constant crashes and fps dips when hovering over anything that makes the cursor animated.
Used multiple proton versions and changed configs
Constant crashes, every 1-5 mins in-game
Constant crashes

Update both game.ini files. One within game data folder: add "setf ~cl_menu3d 0" and change to "setf ~r_use_adapter 1". Another one within compatdata documents folder: change to "setf ~cl_menu3d 0".
- At some angles water looks distorted
- Sometimes reward item icon is corrupted
Main campaign (Orcs on the March) works without any tinkering. Add-on minicampaigns require config changes. Graphics issues are super minor.

Use UI mode for fix small text in game.
No FPS limit (or 60(LCD)/90 (OLED)) --- if you set it less it will affect the loading speed
8W
900 Hz GPU
Use KBGUI for fix this
Work great after install UI mod and custom controller layout
Runs well. The text is a bit hard to read. The water quality needs to be set to normal and back to high.
Back grip buttons added functionalities. Qll buttons chamged to reflect useful commands. This way the use of the trackpad was minimal.
Text is in general difficult to read. Some letters almost intelligible due to the font.
There was a problem with the water at first. It presented a visual artifact. There were lines all over the screen. To fix this go to settings and set water quality to normal. Then you can set it to high again and the problem shouldn't appear again.
Playable out of the box. Needs controls reconfigured for ease of use. Otherwise great. Water and text are a bit meh but ok.
I changed the controls a bit so I can have all the functionalities at a press of a button, this meant using the cursor less to click on stuff so now it is a more pleasant experience.
Some text is difficult to read, the letter 'p' especiall. Zooming in doesn't fix it, the text is readable tho.
The water seems to be out of place, you can see a lot of lines on the texture of the water everywhere, regardless of the angle. I did not try to fix it through settings. I don't care that much.
PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%
- When viewed at a slanted angle, the water effects become distorted.
- Fonts are not rendered correctly. The thin fonts look a little too thin and the bold font has some artifacts around it. Nothing too bad, but it's noticeable.
This ran very well on two of my machines, but there are two things I should point out that might be important:
- Proton previously shipped with a hack that allowed for smoother alt-tabbing, but this hack is no longer need on GNOME/Mutter 43, and actually conflicts with it. This causes a black/frozen screen when alt-tabbing. Right now (11 March 2023) there's a fix for it in Proton Experimental, which I assume will make its way into stable later.
- On my Desktop workstation (with has an RDNA2 card) I had to add
PROTON_NO_D3D11=1
in order to launch the game. Otherwise the game ran into a driver detection issue. This is bizarre, as KB uses DX9. This was not needed on my laptop with an Nvidia card.
Aside from those two things, I suspect you will have very few issues running this little classic.
Works great after change game.ini: Localization: SteamApps/common/Kings Bounty Crossworlds/data/game.ini Include on file: setf ~cl_menu3d 0 Update: setf ~r_use_adapter 0 to setf ~r_use_adapter 1
and: Localization: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/63910/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Kings Bounty Crossworlds/game.ini Update: setf ~cl_menu3d 1 to setf ~cl_menu3d 0
The game will works great after this changes

(GOG version) Works but only 1 of 3 campaigns
Works only Orcs campaign, other fails !!!
Played GOG version with Proton 7.0-1.
Works out of the box

Played about 5 hours. Biggest issue - inaccurate (somewhat blured) artifact icons in messages. Otherwise great game with good performance.

The perfomance is perfect. I didn't notice any graphic artefacts, freezes or anything else.

Mouse pointer disappears - fixed by alt-tabbing out of the game and back in.

Steam overlay does not display properly. Runs great otherwise. 1080p/60fps max settings
