A lot of the charm of this game is in the (now muted) sound. But the game still works.
There is no sound, which is a shame because the weird character speech is part of the charm of this game.
The only resolution supported is 1024x786. That might be the game's fault though. I don't remember resolutions working great even in the Windows version.
If I start in my standard resolution, I'll end up with the game taking up the left side of the screen and a large black space taking the right. When this is the case, the mouse needs to be held over a hundred pixels to the right of where I actually want to click. I can avoid this problem if I set my display resolution to 1024x768 before starting the game.
The mouse works properly -- so long as I started while in 1024x768. Otherwise, the clicks are always significantly left of the cursor.

I had to change the resolution of my Linux desktop to 1024x768 for the game to fit the screen correctly without black space. The game also has no sound. I am able to play the game just fine though besides those two issues.
