Despite this being a rather terrible report, the game works just fine, possibly even better than on Windows.
By default, the game has an issue with music not looping. This can be fixed by using the following "patch": https://archive.org/details/WotS3BGMloop
Leaving aside the many, many issues with this port, the game works fine on vanilla Proton these days. That means that unlike some of the reports below, everything including the video playback and sound work out of the box on Proton 9.
Based on what I've seen online, running this on Windows is quite problematic. I get the impression that you'll have a better time running it on Linux.

Intros don't play
To make sure that the intro movies play properly, I have done the effort of converting the intro videos to .MOV format and renamed them back to WMV https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jvYSchT1wBI8MsrGFxedJ-WG21upLma2/view?usp=sharing
Credits to the person below for the advice.

Go into the in-game controller settings, and change the Right Stick's horizontal inputs. They're wrong by default, and if you don't change it, you'll have issues with certain mini-games.
Opening videos play without audio. Going into the files, converting the WMVs to MOVs (and changing the title back to .WMV, so the game recognizes them) fixes this.
Game runs perfectly on a TDP of 3 watts.
Needs Glorious Eggroll to work. Intro cinematic has no sound but rest of the game plays perfectly. Sometimes has minor bug where I was unable to skip the intro cinematic but everything worked fine afterwards.
- Download LAVFilters (i used v0.75)
- Install protontricks
- Run
protontricks 427510 --gui
- Wait for winetricks to load
- Select the default prefix
- Select the file explorer
- Find and install your LAVFilters exe file
- Close winetricks and start the game via Steam
The opening movie has no sound but there is sound game.
slight slowdowns sometimes, somewhat unstable framerate here and there.
I use the "gamemoderun %command%" to play the game for the most part. but I ran it initially without, and didn't really experience any problems

An error pops up when goes to cutscene and suddenly crash
even with latest steam or ge proton....
install lav filters
I didn't have sound in the intro cinematic.
Use protontricks or wine to install LAVFilers.
Startup movie skips and stutters
Game fails to shut down occasionally; kill via system monitor

Shows the opening logos, then crashes with 'prMovie::Open - Unable to connect pins.' This is almost certainly related to WMP codecs in its movie files. No way to bypass; game also crashes if movie files aren't present.
