Changed face buttons to function keys. F6 allows you to skip to then next level and F1 resets the level.
Audio would stop playing after you exit a level.
The game's menu bar does not show up while in gamemode (gamescope’s embedded mode). This means that you have to go into desktop mode to edit configuration options. There appear to be no launch options for gamescope that change this. However, the menu bar does shows up correctly when playing in desktop mode.
Otherwise Worked fine
The music stopped at some point, and I couldn't figure out how to bring it back
Weird glitchyness around the screen border
It doesn't seem to run if you let Steam chooses a Proton version and with Proton 7, it seems to give an error when you starts playing
It was great to see the game go from a scambling mess, to looking fine, to working but having to remove the music to just working. The game just works now with GE, no arguments needed. The level editor's scroll bars are still blinking, but it's not much of an issue
This is a quick test, there could be bigger problems later! But it runs fine now!
The suggestion to remove the music references from the play files from the Chip Challenge 1 page works for CC2 as well! The game runs pretty well after that.
- Open up the game folder: steam/steamapps/common/Chip's Challenge 2/data/games/cc2
- Remove all references to music from playcc2.c2g and playcc2x.c2g:
sed "s/music "+\w+"\s*//g" playcc2* -i
Preferences cant be easily updated. Updating control bindings does work however.
Menus working, but crashes loading first level
Opens properly, can use the menu and level editor and read through the opening "cutscene", but after "Press enter to begin" it crashes before loading the first level.
Closes immediately after the "Preparing to launch" dialog. Doesn't even spawn a window.
Won't Start
Crashes on startup
