Rodina Works Great on Linux
Love this game, and it works amazingly on proton. However, do not enable vsync in the graphics settings, unless you want your frame-rate to drop to subzero FPS. I'm quite sure that setting worked as intended on windows, but not here.
Runs fine, no configuration needed.
Runs fine OOTB
I did not run into any issues; game ran as smooth as it does on Windows with no tweaks required.
No tweaking needed in Proton 6
Works out of the box
Tried it with proton-5 and higher
Works perfectly with proton 5
Seems to work without any tweaks.
I able to run the game using this mark "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%" this made the game launch successfully and even played like normal. The only downside is that the textures were broken. showing the "behind the scenes" of the game. Textures were loading like the game had overly aggressive optimization making textures not load correctly.
Like before textures not load correctly.
native 1920x1080 resolution experience significant slowdowns.
game gives me error messages when i load a save game. (mine is probably 100% completed.)
strange textures appearing when i stand near airlock or a holoscreen
not using the command "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%" would make my game immediately exit or summurised from my discord message "the screen went black for a split second and the game closed by itself"
Game freezes shortly after launching, then crashes shortly after
I can hear the music that would normally play on the opening menu. Sometimes I see space in the background (a static image), sometimes I only see white (in the latest Proton it sticks on white). Pressing buttons doesn't do anything; Esc was suggested by a previous tester but it did nothing for me. A couple minutes later it crashes.
Judging by these reports, it seems that Nvidia users are able to play the game, but Mesa users are not?
Runs perfectly fine with no tweaking required
Now runs with no mouse or controller issues as of Proton 4.11-4. If ship navigation control issues occur, saving and restoring the game eliminate the problem.
Game now appears to run perfectly again; mouse errors no longer occur as of Proton 4.11-4; Xbox 360 controller interchanges seamlessly with mouse/keyboard setup.
Works perfectly, haven't tried mods tho
Mouse just starts spinning. Unless you have a game pad, don't bother.
The game itself runs perfectly but it is unplayable with mouse. It starts spinning like crazy after you change window focus or interact with game menus. There isn't such an issue if I switch to my Xbox 360 controller.
Shows a picture of the milky way (?), makes a low boooong sound, then crashes.
Game now runs fine from startup for several minutes until the mouse stops working with all in game pop up messages. I got around this issue by using an Xbox 360 gamepad to navigate the messages without tabbing out, and then continued to use the mouse/keyboard setup. If I tabbed out and back into the game, the mouse would spin uncontrollably. The game could be continued with a gamepad but the mouse remained uncontrollable.
When ran only white screen, says it cannot load textures
My previous report was wrong, it actually runs flawlessly except maybe a little rendering glitch at the airlock exterior but fully playable and real smooth!
Stick at the "For Bema" launch screen, but music plays well and start asteroid renders fine, promising. :D
After starting, press ESC after the screen turns all white. The game will fill in the background, but will then run flawlessly afterwards. Mouse/keyboard & game pad modes work and are interchangeable. Ran in highest setting with no issues.
Game begins with error messages until 'Cancel' is clicked. The menu is slow to load and the mouse cursor is not always visible during in the main menu (alt-tabbing out and back into the game sometimes reveals the mouse cursor). Once a game is started or loaded, Rodina works flawlessly.
White screen and error message on start, but click cancel and they go away. Slower to draw scenes on load than Windows, but once loaded is same experience as Windows. Keyboard and Mouse, and Xbox360 Wired pad both worked well.
Starts as blank, white screen. After many minutes and random key presses involving control and enter keys, and sometimes switching window screens, the game graphics will load (For Bema screen). I have not found a way to duplicate this exactly yet. The mouse cursor is invisible but highlighted choices will light up onscreen. After your name is chosen/inputted, the mouse cursor will appear and game play appears normal (improved compatibility with Proton 3.7-5 Beta).
Blank white screen on start for a minute. After GFX loads, game runs. Mouse does not work properly but can play fine with XBox360 controller.
Getting multiple errors about unable to load certain textures.
