gdiplus (native, builtin) - fixed text issues

Steam status "playable" on Steam Deck is NOT true! No tinkering means: game unplayable on the Deck!
Despite another review - For me, it was sufficient to go to Steam Desk desktop mode(!) and there, install "gdiplus_winxp" through "winetricks" from within "steamtinkerlaunch" (Proton compatibility tool) GUI. I think, "gdiplus" itself is not required.
steamtinkerlaunch: see here). See also "ProtonUp-Qt" (to install steamtinkerlaunch): here.
Beware: Be patient! May take a long time for steamtinkerlaunch to execute/finish installing winetricks items. May not happen, before you hit "Play" to launch the game in Steam Client. May need multiple attempts to succeed!
Do NOT try to install multiple winetricks items at once, from within "steamtinkerlaunch". And do NOT try to install them from within Steam Deck gaming mode. Might work, but gave me a HARD time, requiring to revert game installation and "steamtinkerlaunch" config to zero, manually, to be able to start over anew.
Compl. remap, to bring all keys to controls on Steam Deck gamepad.
But nothing illegible. Just very small. Required to use Steam Deck system zoom for convenience.
Without tinkering described: Incorrectly rendered text, partially illegible (settings screen). Then, unplayable due to text part. missing.
Without tinkering described: save game fails. Then, unplayable.
Could be and should be fixed by Steam or the game devs. I "pray". :-)
Switch to Proton 7.0.x and install the game. Click yes to the SlimDX installer.
Then, use protontricks to install gdiplus and gdiplus_winxp. If using the protontricks gui, it may appear to do nothing for awhile. Let it proceed and it will eventually download those libraries and finish.
Go into ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/296570/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Lords of Xulima
Edit Configuration.txt. Change Renderer to "SlimDX" instead of "OpenGL".
Mapped some of the keyboard hotkeys to buttons.
Occasional music choppiness during combat
If you only install gdiplus, the game will launch but savegames will fail. You must also install gdiplus_winxp to resolve this.
This game has a native Linux version, but it is unstable. It often crashes when attempting to save the game, causing you to lose progress. Also, the steam cloud saves from the native Linux version often fail to sync when you switch to playing on a Windows machine.
Running the game under Proton with the gdiplus / gdiplus_winxp dlls installed solves these problems.
