Some text is a bit small but readable.
Didn't need protontricks, didn't need to install or configure anything, just selected Proton Experimental and bam. Works, runs well, has sound, no crashes.

Only runs a couple of minutes at a time before crashing.
Crashes every few minutes due to resource usage. PROTON_LOG reveals errors like "memory allocation of 8388608 bytes failed" or "GStreamer-WARNING **: 19:13:13.132: failed to create thread: Error creating thread: Resource temporarily unavailable"

$ protontricks 264540 dotnet40 wmp9
The setup for wmp9
will say it failed, but afterwards sound works nonetheless.

The game doesn't start at all right out-of-the box. By nuking the default wineprefix[0] and reinstalling .NET and XNA[1], you can get the game running, however, without any sound. For sound you need to install WMP9, which works only in 32-bit wine prefixes (the default Proton's one is 64-bit). Unfortunately, Proton doesn't like 32-bit prefixes, so the game won't start after switching to 32-bit one (see https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/449).

Starting the game quits it immediately (no error log, no message or anything)
