Works perfectly out of the box.

i dont know if the game was updated, valve's linux runtime improved or just my setup is better, but now the native version just works
i made the config
linux and windows saves are not compatible, your cloud saves wont carry over
if you are short on disk space, intalling the native version might be a good option

Native Linux port works perfectly, but if you want to install the Community Edition mod, you must download the Windows version of the game and run that through Proton or Wine. Since I own the game on GOG, I simply installed the game like I normally would into my Wine prefix, installed the mod and it just works.

some text is a bit too small
the game has a Linux version, but it really doesnt seem to work very well, it has a launcher that wont launch, you can start the game without a launcher but its harder to change the resolution that way plus it just doesnt seem to work well once you are in the Geoscape
stick to the Proton version

Some text is small to read
Sometimes there's an issue: if an alien goes inside the ship on a metall floor, then his steps sound plays continuesly till the end of the mission.
Rare crashes
A wonderful game for everyone who likes the original X-COM series.
Small text for the Steam Deck screen
Works fine on the 1080p integrated laptop screen, fails to accept mouse inputs on 1440p external monitor. All this with community edition, haven't tried standard version.
haven't had any issues with the game after 8hrs of playtime. using the community edition mod, which apparently fixes bugs that are known in the game. Have not experienced any bugs/crashes/issues
Actual gaming experience is fine
Launcher fonts are completely borked
