Running fine after making changes via protontricks. Have spent hours on it. The only nitpick is that it doesn't disable screen sleep.

Using protontricks GUI
# Run the protontricks GUI
protontricks --gui
- Select
Rocksmith
Select the default wineprefix
- Select
Change settings
- Select
sound=alsa
then apply - Select
winecfg
- In audio tab select
Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter
as input device then apply
Using protontricks cli
protontricks 205190 sound=alsa
protontricks 205190 winecfg
then perform step 6 above
Running the game apparently does not prevent the computer from going to sleep. Maybe another trick to find about this or just use caffeine-ng
while playing.

Use: "WINEPREFIX=.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/205190/pfx/ winecfg"
and select "rocksmith guitar adapter mono" in audio/input
then
"WINEPREFIX=.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/205190/pfx/ winetricks sound=alsa"
Have fun

I simply had to adjust the audio (using winetricks, pavucontrol and editing /etc/pulse/daemon.conf)
I ran the command: WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/205190/pfx winetricks sound=alsa
and used pavucontrol to disable the real tone USB cable before launching the game.
I've used winetricks with the following command:
WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/205190/pfx winetricks sound=alsa
then connected the real tone cable and deactivated it in pulse audio:
pavucontrol
and in "Configuration" turn the "Rocksmith Guitar Adapter" off. Finally I had these values changed as suggested to run Rocksmith 2014:
sudo nano /etc/pulse/daemon.conf
and edit the two values:
; default-fragments = 5
; default-fragment-size-msec = 2

Can get in-game, menu, sound, and in-game songs work. I haven't set my real-tone cable up yet but will update/replace this review if it doesn't work/requires seriously more/less tweaking to get it to work

does not start - game crashes with a message "something went wrong"

So here's the thing, the game runs perfectly. It's a matter of getting the real tone cable to show up in game. I've tried switching around the sound drivers to no avail. My guess is that if you could add the real tone cable to the list of devices in the winecfg, you might be able to work. I spent some time trying but didn't have any luck.

Game runs perfectly. But it does not recognize the Real Tone Cable.
