The game itself runs OK but the editor does not. You can install a fan patch with real life teams, leagues, & players using .exe installer.
Protontricks was used to start the .exe installer(s) for the FM-Zocker.de database
Game editor won't launch as it requires .NET Framework 4.6 or higher
The game does not come with any licensed teams, leagues, or players. This can be worked around by installing FM-Zocker.de database. By default this would be done using Steam Workshop and the game editor but the editor does not work as it requires .NET Framework 4.6 or newer. What you can do instead is:
- go to FM-Zocker website
- use the download links that will lead you to ModDB.com and download both the database and the portrait base
- use Protontricks to run .exe installers for the database and the portrait base in the WE ARE FOOTBALL 2024 Proton prefix
- start the game by choosing "my own database" option

Editor doesn't work
The Game works out of the box. Only problem is that the editor doesn't work. Which means that the standard way of installing the database patch doesn't work. Here's a simple soultion for that problem: I installed Protontricks. Then right-clicked the .exe and selected "Open with Protontricks Launcher". From there you can simply install it like you would in Windows. It takes quite a bit but works flawlessly. Both for the database and the portraits pack.

Install Framework 4.8 which will install below the version and maybe DXVK latest. If you want to use the editor i figure out when i use wine then tried with protontricks
i started a game and no issue, as for the editor you need to use protontricks to add dxvk (not sure if it's necessary) but add Framework 4.8 (or maybe under) the result is the editor will launch after.
Maybe you should try with the We Are Football previous version for the editor.

The only issue is the editor who doesn't launch. i have tried with any proton version.
you can add manually in the saved games folder from compatdata the database and logos and stuff it will be recognized.
