This fix also applys for Dead End Aegis and Sadistic Blood! While Gaiden might warn you that it is not able to play videos you can ignore that. There is no Opening in Gaiden. In order to get the Opening runnng in the Main Game you'll need Lav Filters, you can also just install it for Gaidan to get rid of the message on startup, Gaiden does also run with normal Proton. winetricks to install lavfilters

You need to use lutris, install lavfilters with winetricks, use a 64bit wine prefix and add d2d1 with winecfg in order to fix the font problems

Font size is big that overflows the game window. I found a temp fix. There is a file called printmessage.xtx inside of init folder of the game where you can set up the font spacing and font size
init>printmessage.xtx
Here are my settings, the font is still smaller but at least it does not overflow the window game, the text on the backlog is still big.

Videos does not work, at least there is a prompt on startup to skip the video intro
You can try lowering the font size as temp fix but it is too tiny to read comfortable
