I needed to create a file to manually set OpenRX to SteamVR. Unfortunatly the developer options GUI wouldn't let me set it so I had to do it thru the terminal. Check and see if you have the file fist with this.
ls -l ~/.config/openxr/1/active_runtime.json
If the file isn't there you can create it with these commands.
ln -sf ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/SteamVR/steamxr_linux64.json ~/.config/openxr/1/active_runtime.json

When using something that's not SteamVR the game gives a warning about possible input issues, but I have not experienced any

Runs great, lovely game!
Works without any issues now. Tested with SteamVR 2.0.8 and Valve Index.

works out of the box
Works fine since the 2023/06/30 update, at least with a Valve Index and AMD hardware
Doesn't start. The game first asks the openxr monitor, once this set to steamvr. The game finds no headset to display into.
Fails to start correctly
Initially had problem finding VR runtime. Others had this issue too [1] and was fixed by setting SteamVR as the OpenXR runtime in Steam VR settings (after enabling Advanced settings) [2].
However, the game Pontoco logo comes up on the desktop and the headset, but then the headset goes black. The desktop window for the game freezes and must be killed.

hangs after logos
The logos are properly displayed in VR during startup, but right after the FMOD logo fades away, the VR session closes (reverting to Steam VR Home), leaving an unresponsive black window.
