Game played at a solid 60FPS. Looks great on the Steam Deck. Amazing how smooth the gameplay is for a hand held.
Works perfectly
Game lags a bit during zoomed in scenes or when there's a lot of stuff happeing, but turning off KDE Compositor helped speed things up immensely.
Messed around in MyPark for a bit. Everything seemed to work fine. The servers like disconnecting in general for this game whenever it feels like, but it's hard to safe it it's a Proton issue or just another buggy 2K one.
Standard Proton was the only thing that worked for me. Glorious Eggroll wouldn't let me get past the service agreement without freezing, and Experimental refused to connect to the servers. Game runs and plays well for how buggy a mess it can be at times. 2KHook works but I couldn't click any of the options when bringing up the menu. Not sure if that's just an issue only I'm having or a Proton one.
gamemoderun %command%
gamemoderun && mangohud %command%
Same as windows version
Sometimes initial connection to the servers can be met with an error, but restarting the game usually solves it!
NBA 2K on PC has always been a buggy mess, i'd say it runs out of the box just as good if not slightly better than it did for me on Windows with the same specs!

The game runs pretty much 1:1 as it does on Windows, I have not noticed any issues. Maxed out on Ultra and running great even in multiplayer!
5.16 kernel caused my lag issues to go away. Still need to disable KDE compositor on high refresh rate however
Game will sometimes crash if you are in a squad - otherwise no issues
Only time I crash is in park when looking for the game, never have crashed in an actual game

Runs great at 1440p, Ultra settings with a DualSense. Some stuttering the first secondods on the first game, then smooth as butter
If you want to use NBA2K_Hook (to be able to load great mods as the incoming PCBasket 2k22): protontricks 1644960 winecfg and add a DLL override to dinput8.dll (native then builtin works fine here).
If the stutters and lag can be sorted out, then this would be a yes.
There was a pretty significant latency compared to Windows 10
Major stuttering during gameplay
KDE Compositor needs to be disabled for game to run at high framerate. Works close to flawlessly after
Honestly feels very good, however, I've played ~13hrs of MyCareer. Regular offline matches work well too.
Honestly feels very good, however, I've only played ~13hrs of MyCareer. Regular offline matches work well too. It played very nicely 1440p 144hz on my main rig, but I also hooked it up to my 4k TV with my laptop running Fedora 34 Ryzen 7 5700U, 16GB RAM, GTX 1650 4GB and it ran pretty nicely. The 'Get VC' screen loads up just fine, so I don't presume there'd be any issues if you actually tried to buy some. Also, if you plan on using an Xbox One controller, you might need to do a very easy workaround to connect with bluetooth (it works flawlessly). on Fedora, just run
echo 1 > /sys/module/bluetooth/parameters/disable_ertm
on Ubuntu/Mint, watch Son of a Tech's video on YT to connect an Xbox controller to Ubuntu.
When alt tabbing back into the game, you'll have to spam it quite a few times before it actually engages (don't press the panel icon, cuz the top of the game might be cut off, instead use alt+tab)
The game runs and is playable, mild stuttering makes it feel like it would be like 30 fps or something. Timing is still accurate
mild stuttering

Park is playable, expect occasional stuttering when running around the park but overall is fine in-game.
Frame tearing
Some stuttering regardless of graphics settings, overall still playable and not game breaking.
Overall runs well. No big issues on my setup 1080p 144hz ultra preset runs at 100fps
some audio crackling in pre-game during a transition
some chugs in pre-game/cutscenes but during gameplay its completely fine
