Mission Trees that extend to the right are cut off. Either get the Steam Deck Mission Trees mod from (currently until the Steam Workshop is activated) Paradox's mod site (disclaimer, I am the author) OR set the UI scaling set to 0.8. That's if you want to keep 1280x800 res, otherwise go to 1920x1080. Also the empire selection screen does not spawn the selection cards at 1280x800. Use the before mentioned UI scaling or resolution fixes, start your game, save, and if you want to reset your fix, you can and keep your empire.
Other than that, if you want to play at 1280x800, some othe minor UI elements will be cut off too.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
sync errors, but without consequences
Playing on a Gnome desktop in a wayland session. Maybe that is why extra steps to make it work were necessary.

If you are comfortable restarting the game after 10 to 20 minutes to get rid of the performance degradation, this is playable.
Stuttering when mentioned performance problems occur in Galaxy Overview mode.
Coincides with the performance problems, otherwise flawless.
After some time playing (10 to 30 minutes) when in the Galaxy Overview mode game starts to lag and stutters. When going back to System view it is fine for the moment.
I have no idea how I can resolve the performance issue.

Appears to work properly by default on Ubuntu 22.04.3 x64 with nVidia 535.113.01 and Proton 8.0-104

The controls are simple to understand and the screen Is big enough to clearly see all details, no hassles, highly reccommend
When selecting a faction in the beginning of the game, there is a chance that none of them appear, the situation resolved for me with an easy close and reopen the game
Day 1 bugs aren't patched on the game as of 13/10/23
Currently works right out the box, just takes the game a bit to launch. Works really well once it does.

Its Stellaris with Star Trek skin. really nicely done.
I only played the turorial for around 20minutes. Game Started with Proton Experimental. Had nothing to tinker with.

Runs perfectly fine with Proton 7.0.6 through the compatibility options. Should you have tried running it before, and came here after, find the folder compatdata/1622900 where Steam saves your games and delete that numbered folder. (it will get recreated when starting the game again)
Once you switched to Proton 7.0.6 it should run without any issues. Otherwise the DXSETUP.EXE just hangs for no apparent reason.
Game runs like as under Windows. Game has the well-known Paradox-Bugs.

gamemoderun %command%
I just used "gamemoderun" as I do with most of the games I use, whether they are Linux native or run under Proton.

No tinkering required beyond telling Steam to run the game with Proton, since it's not officially supported yet. But it's running perfectly for me at this time.

Enjoyable take on the Star Trek franchise. Runs great out of the box.
Some of the smaller text looks very sharp, it is straining to read it at times.
I haven't tried, but tweaking UI scaling might help.
When taking a screenshot using the built-in tool in Fedora Gnome, the game will loose keyboard input until the it's relaunched.

Currently not launching
Was stuck on launching, with DXSETUP.EXE breaking and not even letting me close steam. Had to manually kill the process. Update just happened, launches, runs, stops, not hanging on DXSETUP anymore. Verified files. Tried Proton Experimental, GE 8-0-16, 8.0.4, gamemoderun %command%, neither worked so far. Waiting for people with more experience to get it working.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Does not work for me without PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

If the typical gamer likes strategy games. It so far is playing fine out of the box on steamdeck.
So far no issues in the tutorial. Booted up and asked for a login with an option to SKIP. Worked just fine and launched into the tutorial. Fully navigatable with the steam controls. Mouse and keyboard also worked. About 30 minutes so far.

In desktop mode via 4K TV, launcher text quite small
On the empire select screen
- the left most and right most empires (federation and Cardassian) are cut in half - still slectable but not fully visible. This happens on numerous Desktop resolutions on external TV
- On Steamdeck no empire show at all and cannot be selected
When not using an external monitor you cannot select an empire as none show on the empire select screen (new game), thus you cannot continue
PLays well on the deck providing you have an external monitor, if you are loading a saved game and dont mind a crowded interface, running on the decks screen is fine using the default controls.
