Game launches fine with Proton Experimental, but goes to black screen shortly after.
Download linux version of nw.js, extract the tarball and copy all of its contents into Karryn's Prison install directory overwriting the files. Then open "nw" instead of running through steam.
Game screen goes black when launching with proton or wine or anything. Only works if you get nw.js.
Also, game assets randomly disappear when playing so you have to restart the whole game to fix that. Mods will not work if you launch with nw-js.

Works flawlassly as if it was windows
Slow down when cut in scenes show up in battle.
When switching off the default protron game won't load at all. Just crashes back to SteamOS.
In battles when cut in scenes show up the game slows down to a crawl.
XWayland is not detecting my mouse, that doesn't matter because you can play with keyboard.
I'm playing on Sway Wayland Arch Linux.
Works great out of the box.
