Text prompts on screen difficult to read (even when zoomed in)
When in MyRise, every-now-and-then there is screen tearing (black & white squares)
Changing the FPS to 35 and below significantly slows down gameplay
Crashes way too often on Steam Deck (online mode)...#refund
When I change Proton versions, the game sometimes doesn't boot up
My first WWE game since SvR 2011 (12 YEARS AGO!!)...and it CRASHES!!!!
Game got running, but many inputs are not dectected and game crashes before playing.
I tried the most recent and the 2nd recent Proton on Steam and it doesn't work at all. I'll probably try gloriouseggroll's GE. but I tried to work the player selection screen and it would go threw all of the chacters at very fast speeds. So you couldn't pick a character nor switch threw the screens with the bumbers on the controller. I got in a game after the enterences and it just crashed right after the bell.
The first launch I got past the EULA, I made my 2K account and then it crashed.
Tried several Proton versions +defaults and it just keeps crashing. Really bumbed about this, but same behavior on my deck.
gamemoderun %command%
Must put steam in offline mode to run. I tried several versions of Proton-GE to no avail. Also, make sure to disable vsync and enable "Timed Game Update" if your monitor goes above 60 FPS, otherwise the game runs at your refresh rate and is unplayable.
Steam must be in offline mode to get to the game menu.
Can at least be rated playable, if not verified
Resolution makes some character selection text a bit blocky
Seems to slow a little bit when a new model is introduced e.g. Entrances. Matches were a rock solid 60 fps, but entrances were usually about 35fps
Some slight performance degradation during entrances, but otherwise than that works excellently.
0 issues
Had no issues at all when playing. Game loaded without issues and played perfectly fine at 60FPS in single player mode.
Considering hair is now rendered entirely rather than partially, leads me to believe that the shadows not rendering properly during cinematics is also part of the problem.
If you exit a match, you can clearly see a 720p transition being played on top of the 800p game.
The game is never demanding enough to ramp up the speeds of the fans, so my conclusion is that it isn't utilizing the hardware well at all.
The game has to be played offline entirely to stop the crashes. Not sure what causes the crashes when you start the game while you are connected to the internet but to avoid all the crashing, you must set the Steam Deck to Offline Mode.
Playing this on SteamOS with Offline Mode enabled is the only way to currently play this on the Steam Deck. Windows 11 performs far worse and even using the -sharedvram launch command does not fix it. Not sure if this is a DX12 issue but the Steam Decks hardware does not seem to be utilized well at all.
With SteamOS in Offline Mode, you can entirely max out the Graphics Settings for 1v1 matches, 8v8 matches can only run well at stable 60FPS with the lowest possible Graphics Settings. The game cannot be played in 30FPS. Forcing 30FPS will result the game running in slow motion.
depends; if you just want to fire it up and play a few offline matches, it's a very enjoyable experience. otherwise, not so much.
a lot of menu crashes, makes MyGM, Universe, and other modes basically unplayable.
crashes at start of match
after many months, i feel it's fair to say that this game, while playable, is very frustrating on Linux. great for a few matches or a couch party, but with frequent crashes in MyGM, Universe, MyRise, and Showcase, it's very hard to recommend to anyone who isn't as stubborn as i am.
Crashes at random, and sometimes more often than not. Online has a lot of disconnects from lobby also
Occassional disconnections
Game runs almost exactly as it did on Windows for me. No crashes yet but significant lag when playing in fullscreen due to poor optimization
Huge slowdowns inside of custom arenas and also in fullscreen in general, but this is also an issue on Windows. The game is just poorly optimized for PC in general.
Make sure to enable the 'fixed game speed' option (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2797613711) if you are getting 2x speed. This is a windows bug too.
crashes fairly frequently, especially when switching from menu to menu or menu to game. Generally tends to save progress though in MyRise.
If you experience the 2x speed bug, enabled fixed game speed in the options, although this is not a linux specific bug.
The game feels incredible when it works but the frequent and random crashes might not be for everyone.
Hair is a little glitchy during intros but is fine during gameplay
Due to VERY frequent crashes, Steam might start failing to upload the save. Don't panic since the save is saved locally and it will fix the upload issue as you keep playing the game.
This is a crash fest. Regardless of what settings you choose, it will crash. When ? Whenever it feels like it. It can crash during boot 5 times in a row and then work just fine. It could crash when you're looking through the menus and pretty much anywhere you can think of.
The game doesn't regognize the screens refresh rate and will show a string of 6 random digits endlessly. 60FPS cap still works though so there's no need to panic about this one.
Graphically very impressive and not very demanding to run either. The benchmark results show 132FPS on average.
Overall very playable now, only thing that's borked is online play. Single player and couch party ready
crashes when trying to play online and occasionally in CAW
community creations works, but not online play
couch party ready
in my previous report, I mentioned horrendous load times. as it turns out, that was on me for downloading too many community creations. after a visit to the deletion utility, loads as expected on an SSD. haven't retested on Zen, but LTS performance is fine, so there's really no need for it, especially since the game is capped at 60 FPS (you can disable the cap, but gameplay seems tied to the FPS so the game is unplayable without the cap.)
changed config.ini to enable windowed mode then set to read only.
when switching to fullscreen, the game drew under my panel instead of over (though this was surprisingly convenient, as it made tabbing out of the game a breeze compared to windows.)
in-game performance was great, but the load times were horrendous considering i am running on an ssd.
crashed a couple of times, though i've also had this issue on windows.
matches load and then crash upon start.
on par with windows on LTS, however i had no luck getting it to launch on mainline or zen. seems some other ppl have gotten it to work on mainline so i'd say that's 50/50. haven't seen any reports of it working on zen tho.
Random crashes all over the place. Sometimes the game crashes in menus, on startup, on character selection, during entrances, during matches (the more wrestlers are in the match, the more likely it is to crash), after matches or anywhere else. If one is lucky, sometimes one can play a full match without crashing.
I've tried all kinds of Compatibility layers, forced GEProton7-15 seems to work best with crashes taking the longest to happen, followed by forced Experimental.
Way more dips in FPS when compared to windows.
The game has animations locked to different framerate times which windows works fine with but my linux install overrides the games. So matches either speed up or slow down depending on my fps. Same with enterences and everything else.
If everything in the game was meant to be 60fps then the solution is just to cap it at 60 but since the game has animations and content running at 30fps ot 60fps it becomes hard to enjoy the game without going into goverlay and just recapping my fps as the content is happening.
turned on windowed mode in config.ini - game doesn't start on fullscreen
Can't start the game fullscreen. You can change it to windowed in the config.ini to start the game and then switch to fullscreen when you are in the game. You have to change it back to windowed before exiting the game unless you want to go edit the config.ini. This is a bit of a pain because when the game crashes you have to go edit the config.ini again.
Matches seem to work just fine. No dips in FPS, but during intros when the camera pans over the arena and crowd, I get around 20fps. Same thing when the match ends.
FPS is poor in MyRise too, during the cutscenes. So the issue is somehow related to cutscenes. I know those are locked to 30fps but I get way less.
With highest settings I get around 20-45fps in the benchmark.
I have played 2 hours. I've had 4 crashes. One in the main menu, one while creating a superstar (nice to lose the whole thing because of this), one while Saving my new superstar (which actually saved, so that's nice) and one when editing the moveset.
Go into your config.ini file from compatdata (1255630)/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/documents/wwe2k22/, and make the game forced windowed and make it read only. Then launch the game
Can play the game from myrise, custom 1v1 matches etc (Havent tryed online). The game does crash at random moments so make sure to have autosaving on so you dont lose alot of progress
Game crashes when trying to load online matches but can get custom wrestlers
Config changes doesnt do anything on my PC.
Borked.
Does not launch
added a config file. no joy
Doesn't launch
Set to windowed via config.ini as suggested
Set to windowed. Doesn't launch on Deck
Did exactly as said on this page, yet it still do not boot the game.
Changed the .ini file windowed setting to on
Edited "config.ini" to set windowed mode on. Game needs to be launched in windowed mode. After launch you can set to fullscreen. FXAA and VSYNC not important, on or off, there is no change to me.
Only one time my game crashed after a showcase match. And one time game stucked on match loading screen.
If you don't want to edit "config.ini" everytime before starting the game, you need to switch back to windowed mode when you close the game. I also tried Proton's FSR and it really improves the performance.
Edited config.ini to turn off FXAA, vsync and windowed mode and it launched
Will update my findings to see if it crashes at any point.
Crashing after white screen shows up a moment.
Game immediately crashes upon startup
I tried Proton Experimental and Proton 7.0-1
Crash on startup
Game crashes no matter wich proton version i try ...
Game launches and crashes to desktop instantly.
Tried Proton Experimental, 7 and 6.3 as well as Proton GE 7.3 and 7.9
