Worked great with default Steam install and no tinkering

Installed the GOG version (free on Twitch Prime) via Heroic Launcher. Accepted and used default options offered by Heroic.
Added this as non-steam game. Works fine, nothing to tinker.
Expert steps - if you want to make sure you can load your saves regardless if you choose to launch by Steam, Lutris or Heroic (ie, you're playing the same saves on all platforms) then you need to symlink the pfx directory to the one where you store your gamesaves. Since I installed thru Heroic, I symlinked the Lutris and Steam pfx folders back to the Heroic one.

I Changed the resolution to 1024x640 in the steam launch options so I could use fsr and have a semi stable 30fps cap. I set almost all settings to low except texture quality and turned off ambient occlusion, screen space reflections and volumetric lighting. There will be dips to the low 20's when breaking multiple barrels at once or fighting lots of enemies at once.
The steam deck will struggle at the default resolution of 800p, making the resolution lower and using fsr will help but will also mess with how text looks some. As long as you're not too picky about dipping below 30 fps you'll have a playable experience. I also set the mangohud fps limiter in the launch options as the built in steam frame limiter had a habit of not actually locking the framerate down and I'd have to re-toggle it to make it work again, frankly just easier to set a launch option and not have to think about it.
Can't recommend in current state; sounds like the windows version is a buggy mess too, so it might not even be Proton.

After switching to ProtonGE the tutorial ran flawlessly, but once outside the game is barely playable even on potato mode settings.
I got it to run, but barely; probably going to return it.

Known sluggishness after a while, also affects Windows
Videos don't play, replaced by a test card. Ignorable except when you level up, save and load is a workaround.
Game was only relased a few days ago, best to wait a week or two while it stabilises and perfomance issues are fixed.
