The recent Proton versions improved the game a lot, the game no longer crashes during transitions, there are no more graphical glitches, no sound crackling and such, the game at the moment is running like native with Proton 7.0

Alt-tabbing causes issues. However I am not sure this is a Proton issue as I recall this being an issue with the original game on Windows at the time of retail release as well. Probably issues with the console port.
