Works totally fine out of the box.
The game has no serious issues to speak of. The only thing worth mentioning, is that I had a slightly annoying issue in larger areas (specifically in the British Museum), where every second or so, there was a pulse of a slight stutter. This occurred with extreme precise regularity, so I wonder if it was perhaps some vsync issue on high-refresh displays. Mangohud's frametime monitor would remain completely flat except for those stutters.
Either way, the game is completely playable. It's probably the least enjoyable game in this series though.

Mouse click issues until I downgraded the proton version
The game works perfectly fine out of the box when installed, however I encountered an input glitch that prevented me from progressing past a certain point (the mouse was double clicking for some reason). I was able to fix this by downgrading to an older version - technically a GE-Proton version, though I'm not sure if that's actually necessary, it might work just fine with Proton 7.
Works aboslutely fine
I had no issues running and playing this game

No window mode, only fullscreen
Played with Proton 6.3-7 and option PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Works well.
same as on Windows, custom file needed to get highest graphics settings: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34778?tab=files&file_id=68581

I struggled to save the game at times, the workaround that worked sometimes was changing the game resolution, restarting the game, saving, changing resolution back, restart and continue. It not always work though.
The game was crashing from time to time, probably due to some graphics issues.
The game seems to be most stable with the lowest possible resolution. I had occasional crashes and problem with saving game state. Sometimes simply moving the game to different workspace allowed to save the game instantly. Nevertheless I was able to finish the game, but it wasn't fully pleasant experience.

I followed the instructions on this thread https://steamcommunity.com/app/11140/discussions/0/359543951698609548/ worked after much hasstle
To install the extra libraries (PhysX and DirectX), set the WINEPREFIX env to the game prefix "$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/11040/pfx" and run msiexec on the binary supplied with the game in "Support" folder, for PhysX, and run wine with the prefix in the DirectX binary. After installing those libraries, copy the PhysXLoader.dll present in "Program Files (x86)/NVIDIA Corporation/PhysX/Common/" to the game root, also had to make it executable. After all this work the game ran withou any trouble so far.
Had to install physx to open, game freezes after pressing "New Game"

This game, as its bretheren require manual installation of the PhysX runtime libraries, as the preparations from Proton do not successfully do this. The best version I could find were the one ones that accompany the "Versis Jack the Ripper" game, which are version PhysX-9.13.0725-SystemSoftware.msi and PhysX-9.13.0604-SystemSoftware-Legacy.msi packages. The same is true for the three games that share the same engine: Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper, SH: The Awakened - Remastered and SH: Nemesis. Installing the latest legacy PhysX from nVidia also works, but I have had trouble in my main rig (Ryzen 7 1800X, GTX1080)

For run need PhysXLoader.dll, game freeze on start New Game

Nothing happens
