Tried GFWL deletion, replaced live dll's and numerous Proton versions. Sadly the game wouldn't load. F1 2010 did work with this method.

Deleted GFWL folder
Tried various Proton versions

With the latest patch 30th Sept, I've been able to just fire up the game and play online.
Simply downloaded from Steam and played. The graphics defaulted to low, and DLSS is not available (even though I have an RTX card), but FSR is available, it seems. With a 4070 Ti I am getting around 60FPS on High Settings. Ultra brings it down to aboute 40FPS so I am sticking with High. I see people are online but never encountered any in races. I've heard that's a thing regardless of OS.
