No problems here, runs a-okay
I mean, it's a unity game with mostly 2d assets and text. Of course it run! :D
Getting this game to work is pure chance, don't bother especially on the deck
Attempted to use the plutonium version on the website, but due to HWID they banned all Steam Deck and possibly all Linux users
Don't bother until plutonium reverses their decision
Controller would stop working if the volume buttons were used. Had to restart
Avoid using the volume buttons on top of the deck through out playing, unlike god of war you can not regain your controller support by opening and closing the steam overlay. Besides that, works perfectly
This game is nearly perfect but I can't recommend it until the save bug gets patched. You have to sit through the whole game in one session
Seems like the cutscenes audio starts to crackle at least in DMC 3
Saving works perfectly on windows however if you try to save on the steam deck it just doesn't work
Overall, would love to recommend this but without saving its not worth it. You might want to try playing through an emulator instead
Changed SteamOS Power Settings
TDP Limit: 9
Sometimes the audio cuts and then comes back out of sync,
If you used the volume slider the game would no longer detect input until you opened the steam menu
As stated with the right settings you could play through god of war on a solid 30 fps. With the slight caviat of having no achievemnts unlock offline so if your out and about be sure to connect to free wifi to keep the achievements popping
Besides some degredation with performance, and the lack of Self Radio, the game still runs fine. Not great, but it's still enjoyable
Attempted to fix the Self Radio bug that caused audio files to be unlocatable. Unfortunatly I haven't been able to fix it and it has since led to my prefix being deleted (by my own choice)
Cutscenes tend to drop your framerate HARD, and some areas where its smooth 144fps can dip to 100
Self Radio does NOT work as of 18/7/2024
It doesn't need tinkering to launch, so an average gamer would be a-okay with this. The performance does degrade in Online (depending on how many players are playing) so the lack of optimization becomes more appariant if you're an online player. However if you're story mode player more than an online fan, then you shouldn't notice a huge difference.
Unfortunatly if you had any hopes of fixing Self Radio, it's near impossible as of now to run it likely due to the WMP 11 dependency. You can try to install it to fix it, but this will lead to a whole rabbit hole of bugs so you're better off using something like spotify
Also, if you're the kinda person who uses mod menus in online (hopefully not for malicous reasons), good luck because most menu's wont even load.
So yeah, if you want a pure vanilla story mode experience, it's pretty good. If you want an online experience, its meh. But if you want ALL of the above (Self Radio, Mod Menu's), it's gonna be an uphill battle
Overall runs absolutly perfectly, it even includes offline achievemnts :D
Garbage performance despite decent harware. Should be getting 60fps smooth, but I get 20-50fps
Crashes very often
I had to install windows to server the emporer at a gloriously smooth 60fps. Definitely not worth it
