There are occasional crashes, but no worse than under Windows. It is a Bethesda engine game afterall.
Other than the D-Pad not working with the default controller configuration, the game works solidly!
D-Pad does not work with the default controller profile. Left thumbstick does work however, so game can still be played without issue.
My previous report of the sound not working has been resolved with the latest default Proton builds.
Proton GE is absolutely required, but otherwise, all other configuration was set to defaults.
Proton GE is absolutely required, but otherwise, all other things left by default. FPS lock to 60, lower TDP, and lower graphical settings to suit your needs and battery life expectations.
Game launches to a black screen, Wine Loader crashes after 30-40 seconds, and the game exits to the desktop.
Display settings could be tinkered with for extending battery life, but I've not found any particular need to so far.
Launching the game, all components needed installed, and the game launched in. Logged in to my TESO account, and created a character. Not a hitch other than minor screen tearing, which just requires dialing the graphics settings back a bit (they defaulted a little aggressively for my resolution and GPU). Very impressed with the initial start.
I was able to play the game completely through, twice, without a hitch. Graphics, audio, and game play were all stable compared to the Windows experience.
