With the next setup, the latest game patch and some little tinkering everything is working out of the box for me
PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
When I switch windows, Elden Ring instantly says that framerate is unstable for online play and kicks me out to main menu where it gets stuck forever saying that same thing over and over again
From time to time experience slowdowns and rubberbanding, framerate is definitely not as stable as it's supposed to be with given hardware, but FromSoftware are looking into the issue and by reading numerous reports windows users experience the same inconsistent stuff.
And we should take into account that since the game is directx 12 only proton is using vkd3d, and as far as I've been experiencing vkd3d still has some pretty mild overhead
After continuous 5 hour sessions game always crashed. After disabling FSYNC I have not been experiencing any crashes during long sessions (helped in the past with a bunch of games, including dark souls titles and death stranding)
Occasionally game gets stuck on white screen on launch, killing all the .exe processes and starting the game again helps
After the latest patch I don't experience any problems with EAC and can play online without problems (messages, white phantoms, bloodstains, have been playing coop a lot, invasions also work with no problems). As of writing my playtime is ~ 30 hours
Must set Proton Experimental to bleeding-edge in Proton's beta settings
Window manager: sway (wayland)
Vulkan's driver: vulkan-radeon and lib32-vulkan-radeon
Game is installed on nvme drive
Steam client opted in beta.
Steam Linux runtime - selected client_beta branch
Steam Linux runtime Soldier - also client_beta branch
Manually installed Proton EasyAnticheat Runtime in Steam's Tools
Steam Proton - Experimental (selected bleeding-edge in beta settings) and specifically set Elden Ring to use Proton Experimental
Game occasionally gets disconnected from the server, have to manually reconnect from the options menu, but I have no idea if it's related to proton.
- You have to use proton 5.0-10 initially, then launch the game one time until it creates the prefix and crashes.
- After that use the patch from https://github.com/Linux74656/SpaceEngineersLinuxPatches (very important to uncheck Create Prefix) and wait quite some time until it installs all the necessary stuff (it will display the dialogue box when everything is complete). Sometimes the program gets stuck in infinite error loop, if that happens delete the prefix and start all over again.
- Game should launch after that, you can change proton to 5.13 or experimental if you want to.
Mouse gets grabbed by the game even after alt-tabbing, so you can't interact with your system until you exit the game (Some people report that opening steam overlay before alt-tabbing helps, but it doesn't work on my end)
Game crashes on random occasion, but I've reports from windows users about the same problem after the last game update.
