Borderlands 3
Customizations:Media Foundation DLL, Something Else
The out of the box installation works, except for cinematics. This shouldn't be that big of an issue, except it breaks one of the early tutorial missions. I got the game working fully by doing the following.
- Install the game once, and quit. This is just so the Proton prefix is initialised.
- Install mf-install (WINEPREFIX="~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/397540/pfx" ./mf-install.sh)
- install mf-installcab (WINEPREFIX="~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/397540/pfx" ./install-mf-64.sh), and copy the supplied mfplat.dll next to Borderlands3.exe
- Acquire an up to date Windows 10 version of colorcnv.dll from %WINDIR%\system32, and overwrite the one in the Proton prefix. I guess this is needed because Proton defaults to Windows 10 compatibility, and the version of the .dll that mf-install installs is for Windows 7. Maybe this will change at a later date, though.
Significant Bugs:Yes
Online play seems to be unavailable. I do have a Shift account. My Steam account is linked to it. But I cannot use any of the online functions like mail, matchmaking, and such.

It does run, just needs some fullscreen and desktop switching to fully work.

- Only shows a black window initially. Pressing alt+enter to switch between full screen and windowed mode seems to fix this
- After getting the game to show it didn't respond to mouse presses, which somehow seemed to be resolved by switching between virtual desktops.
