Regular crashing makes it hard to play without limited camera movement and constant saving.
Installed dotnet 4.7.2 via protontricks using Proton 4.11-13. After installation, using a more recent version of proton works fine.
Changed the gamma configuration as described in https://steamcommunity.com/app/1531540/discussions/3/5561388294332782864
Crashes regardless of version, usually when zooming in/out but can occur seemingly randomly.
Occasional 2-3 second long freezes after certain events such as colonisation.
According to the game's steam discussion boards the game can be unstable regardless of platform, so it's hard to tell whether many crashes are due to the game itself or proton.
Stuttering upon placing buildings. Fixed with Proton Experimental on Steam
Loading battle scenes took slightly longer than I expected. Otherwise fine
Texture artifacts are distracting and make it difficult to differentiate terrain and enemies.
Fullscreen/Borderless causes clicking on interactable items to quickly resize the game vertically.
Starting the game in Fullscreen/Borderless, switching to Windowed in the options and then using the in-options "Relaunch" button resolves the above issue while still behaving like a borderless window.
Heavy stuttering makes the game extremely uncomfortable to play properly. Proton GE 7.1-GE-2 has same issues.
Turning more than a few degrees resulted in heavy stuttering, sometimes freezing for half a second.
Loading the game/server resulted in an extra 30 second wait on a black screen.
Entering a map and panning the view too much causes a crash with no error.
