Proton-7.1-GE-2 will have issue w/ the game Launcher, so go to Desktop Mode then under Home > .local > share > Steam > steamapps > common > AoT2.
In this folder, rename Launcher.exe to anything, I just add a y at the end so it reads as Launchery.exe then rename AOT2_EU.exe to Launcher.exe
Proton-7.1-GE-2 will have issue w/ the game Launcher.
Use Proton-7.1-GE-2, ensure to follow the steps provided in order to skip the launcher.
Very special thanks to user: k4rnaj1k. I just elaborated further on how to get this to work, because initially I have zero idea where the Launcher.exe & AOT2_EU.exe files are located.
Additionally, you may want to download & extract the Atelier Sync Fix file from https://github.com/doitsujin/atelier-sync-fix/releases and copy & paste the d3d11.dll file into the same folder where you renamed the Launcher.exe and AOT_EU.exe. It will automatically activate itself, no command line or any special activation required.
Game Works Fine on The Steam Deck; Not Much Tinkering To Do.
03rd May 2023. Game was able to install, launch and start with no issue. Not much tinkering done, all as default! Except FPS at 30, the game is locked at 30 anyways. FMVs plays fine, audio is all good! Launch window you will need to use the touch screen to navigate, these are the changes I made under Settings: Resolution: 1280 x 800, Screen Mode: Full Screen Mode, Video Quality Setting: High. Buttons also reflect as per Steam Deck which is nice especially when doing Auron's Overdrive, etc.
Works Right Out Of The Box On Steam Deck
05th June 2023, Mon.
Game works OOB. When first starting the game you may or may not see a "sword" icon, press A on the Deck and you can skip the movie intro; movie intro plays fine w/ audio and visuals 100%. Once at the main screen go into Config, change the following settings:
- Key Config Settings: Controller.
- Guide Icon Setting: Controller (in-game key icons will change to that of the Deck).
I left the display & resolution settings as-is, no changes. If you change the display to any other options it may softlock the game, you must quit the game via STEAM button to get out of the softlock.
- Display Settings: Windowed
- Resolution: 1280 x 720 60 Hz.
No other significant issues. Managed to play until I reach the hub where you can save your game, go shopping, etc.
Works well as-is with zero tinkering except on the initial launch window, change the control method to Generic Xinput.
Game works well with a few tweaks.
Set Steam Refresh Rate to 40 and frame limit to 40 as well (via ●●● button, under battery). In-game options, resolution to: 1280 x 720, graphic quality to Medium.
Text for the most part are readable (story/narrative, dialogues, conversation), however, there are still some texts that are too small to read but they are not all that important to the game anyways.
Been enjoying the game so far, verified steam deck game that runs well once you've made the adjustments.
Game Works Just Fine.
08th May 2023. Game installs, loads and plays just fine, no audio, no graphical or other issues on the Steam Deck, font is decently sized too. You can change the Deck's FPS to 30 if you wanna extend battery life a bit but be prepared to experience some stuttering. I leave my FPS at 60.
Plays very well right out of the box.
Changed the framerate down to 30 FPS, works very well.
You can keep FPS at 60 but I drop it at 30 but either way the game works like a charm right out of the box!
Work Right Out of the Box
01st October 2023, Sun
Game runs very well on the Steam Deck, full controller support on the Steam Deck itself and the game will display Steam Deck buttons/icons.
Using the latest Proton, Experimental also works too!
From the main screen:
- Settings > Graphics > Resolution > 1280 x 720.
That's it! I didn't change anything else in-game or make any changes on my Deck.
