With Ubuntu Wayland I just used the proton layer for compatibility and it all worked fine.
Works great with the proton compatibility layer on Ubuntu running Wayland.
The Game Used to Work But Now I Get A Black Screen And A Stem Is Not Responding Warning
gamemoderun %command%
I get the black screen that does have sound. A "Steam is not responding" message pops up after a while. I tried: Using different Proton versions. I set: launch options to gamemoderun %command% I went to /home/dlgang/snap/steam/common/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/No Man's Sky/Binaries/SETTINGS and made sure TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML had Property name="FullScreen" value="true" Property name="Borderless" value="false" (don't forget there are less and slash greater than signs in TKGRAPHICS the text file) I cleared the steam downloads cache and re-verivied the game files. The game is still giving a black screen ... and once in a while the game does work but most of the time is not working.
Tried proton 7 and 8 before running natively.
Not saving in a long game like this is a deal breaker.
Closes unexpectedly and since it won't save you lose your work.
I played for like an hour and it crashed. Since it doesn't save all my time was lost.
I saw this on someones post LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 %command% and pasted it in "set launch options" in "properties" and it runs fine. The screen is not full size though. I don't know how to make it bigger.
Smaller than full monitor size. The screen is less than half of my full monitor.
I spent an hour and tried a tutorial and tested the save and it all worked ok.
You should know I am using ubuntu 23.04 and the game works natively, no proton.
