Ran really well.
60fps cap, 6W TDP limit, half-rate shading (optional)
Ran great with a 6W TDP limit using max settings. Constant 60, only dipped when 5+ zombies were bowled over at once - probably just the game figuring out the physics.
Needed some controls tweaking
Changed back grip buttons to something I liked more: L4: Mission Log (J), L5: Database Log (L), R4: Stomp (RB), R5: Map (Select)
8W TDP limit
An issue I had with the default controller layout is that the right joystick felt very bad. The sensitivity was weird, and most importantly it only seemed to output up/down/left/right (no diagonal!). This was fixed by switching to the community layout I mentioned, which uses the "Joystick Mouse" setting. Luckily this game seems to support simulaneous gamepad and kb/m inputs so this worked great.
6W TDP Limit for longer battery life.
TDP limit is not essential, I just wanted better battery life. Game slows down to mid-30s for brief moments near the end of the run when there's a sudden increase in enemies, but it quickly speeds back up. Overall the game runs great, looks great, and has snappy controls.
Game is forced by default to 16:9 aspect ratios. I used a Guide on Steam to set it to 1280x800.
Bound 'Jump' to R5 and 'Dive' to L5 to allow keeping my right thumb on the joystick.
10W TDP limit
Runs great on the Deck.
Haven't tried handheld, but docked runs at a smooth 1080p 144fps without tinkering. Good performance and controls are snappy.
Runs reall well on Deck.
Gamepad controls can occasionally be a bit cumbersome as it was designed for mouse and keyboard first, but it's more than servicable. As an example the skill icons can sometimes be a bit fiddly to get to using the joystick, but an easy workaround is to simply hold down the steam button and use the right trackpad as a mouse for easier selecting. The whole game can be pretty much played using just a mouse and left clicking.
A few issues, but plays nice.
10W TDP, 40HZ refresh rate
Input delay on the right stick seemed to be caused by my 40fps cap. When I turned the deck's frame limiter off the input registered fine.
Would ocassionally get disconnected from FOB missions, I believe this is a known issue with the game and not specific to the Deck. Did not try MGO.
I have put 170 hours into this game on the Deck and have really enjoyed my time. It looks great, and plays pretty good (despite the input delay issue).
12W TDP Limit
Running at 1280x800 with FSR scaling set to quality, looks decent but has some shimmering around the edges of objects. Can be fixed somewhat by setting the antialiasing to MSAA and using the 'High' setting.
I started playing this on the Deck after they re-did the lobby and the equipment, and it's played really well. The default gamepad control scheme works well, but I bound the A and X buttons to the back grips to pick up and use items easier. Played 50+ hours and haven't had any major recurring issues. Would recommend.
5W TDP limit
Yarrrrrr, plays great.
No tinkering necessary!
Played the full game over about 7 hours. Full gamepad support, played smooth, and looked great. A really nice froggy experience on the Steam Deck!
