Downloaded ProtonUp-Qt in desktop mode and installed latest version and then everything worked great!
Tinker Steps:Switch to experimental
I had to download ProtonUp-Qt from the Discover store on desktop. I then opened it and installed GE-Proton8-25. Then back in gaming mode i had to force experimental mode and then select GE-Proton8-25 from the dropdown of proton versions.
The game runs fine on the lowest settings. Obviously it's better playing on my PC but this is totally fine for continuing where I left off while travelling!
