Download Uplay from the Lutris website and install through Lutris
I installed Uplay (Ubisoft Connect) through the Lutris website and then launched Uplay and signed into my Uplay account. I selected Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and then Uplay opened Steam in Wine and then I signed in to Steam. Then I downloaded Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and everything worked fine, it was easiest way I found to do it.

It crashed twice and I couldn't continue until I restricted the Ubisoft Launcher to single core. I switched it back after completing these missions.
Some Ubisoft thing kept crashing and it minimized the game but the game didn't crash these times and I was able to continue playing as normal.
