Put "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" into the launch options and the game runs perfectly
No sign of audio glitches for me
All in all the game runs fine enough though someone wanting beautiful graphics might end up being disappointed.
Dropping to very low fps makes mouse movement very choppy.
I was forced to go to minimum graphics settings and to decrease the resolution significantly to get ~10 fps which is barely enough to make the game playable. Newer versions of proton had even worse performance issues and I had to go down to the minimum resolution on them for similar performance. My computer isn't super impressive so it's not like performance is cripplingly bad but it's still a major issue.
The initial startup menu bugs out if you press anything other than the buttons and the game needs to be closed manually every time as it doesnt close normally. In addition the game opens to a black screen but don't worry the menus will appear if you wait a bit.
Some glitchiness when starting but runs flawlessly otherwise.
The game crashes a few seconds after starting from the launcher. Minimizing the game window before the crash occurs prevents the crash and the game runs flawlessly afterwards. If you merely drag the window around then the crash is also prevented but there is a (mostly) visual glitch making gameplay impossible.
Contrary to previous reviews I have not had any issues with input delays or sfx.
Minimize the game immediately and turn off audio. Online play takes a long time to process your turn. Potentially hours on big scenarios.
Previous reports noted that turning off audio improves stability significantly and what few tests I've done seem to confirm this. Crashes at least seem to be a lot more frequent with in-game audio on. Otherwise audio works fine.
Graphical problems that are rather difficult to describe and AFAIK are unavoidable. All core parts of the game look the same as normal thankfully but the glitchiness is rather- apparent. Tooltips were previously broken but they work now for the most part. Doing anything to the window(minimize, resize etc.) will cause graphics to bug out totally making the game unplayable until you quit and restart.
As mentoned Alt-Tab causes graphics to glitch out, turning the whole game screen black so it is not possible. I haven't fiddled with starting the game windowed but windowing it on the fly is not possible.
Performance is not quite what you would expect but the game nonetheless runs reasonably smoothly mostly because it is a turn based game and doesn't need good fps. Bad performance shows in multiplayer more where it took 30 minutes to process a single turn in a smaller scenario. This being a situation where there is no progress bar so I assume it would be almost instant normally.
With audio on crashes happen occasionally but with audio turned off they are very rare (though they still happen)
The launcher bugs out if you press anything other than the buttons forcing you to kill the process and the in-game update system does not work. Finally, the game does a CTD 5 sec or so after starting unless you minimize it beforehand after which it works as described.
