native port works fine, don't use proton.
Using proton caused consistent crashes opening the server browser. I noticed the crash happens right when it's done syncing up to your steam friends list. Not too big of an issue though as the native port works flawlessly and with the source code being semi open I can't imagine the port ever being fully abandoned.
mangohud MANGOHUD_CONFIG=fps_limit=144,no_display=1 %command%
unrecoverable GPU hangs that needed a complete system restart were experienced infrequently during normal play but consistently during the mission "mile high club" upon reaching the 2nd floor. This is with both shadow caching options on, "fill gpu memory" on and shader precaching off in settings.
Ladders were finnicky at higher fps. Trying to climb the church ladder in "all ghillied up" without immediately falling and dying was impossible at uncapped framerate.
I've tried 6.10 stable and 6.6 LTS and no dice, still get a ring gfx_0.0.0 timeout crash. Likely an issue with the kernel driver (similar to helldivers 2 driver timeout).
The unnofficial HDR patch works sans the HDR, but if you just need it's added RT and texture options it works as expected. FSR 2.0 injection with cyberfsr also works but needs the latest visual studio runtimes added to control's wine prefix, otherwise the game will crash with a runtime error when trying to progress the main menu prompt.
The significant performance hit is a big turn off. Anyone with low-mid range hardware is SOL.
About 60% the total performance I'd get natively on windows
The initial load screen is a coin toss whether it freezes or continues to the start prompt
Performance on the BTB map highpower was about 60-80 on linux, while on windows it'd never go below 120. This is on lowest settings. Stats say I'm gpu bound on both OS.
Performance issues are probably related to nvidia. I've tried the broken 545 driver with wayland, turned off REBAR with launch options, turned off REBAR in bios and tried various other launch parameters and was met with the exact same performance.
Flickering shadows. Fixed by turning off async compute in options
EAC is rumored to be added soon so we might see support completely broken for a while.
Added winmm.dll to the game's prefix using winecfg. Only needed when installing mods.
opening the "DLC available" option at the bottom of the phone menu frequently locks up the game. Forcing steam overlay off guarantees the hard lock. Looks to be reported by windows users so it's been a longstanding bug. Fixed with the "Pause screen ad remover" mod, see tinker steps above for extra info.
