As with Twilight Struggle, I had to right-select the game in the Favorites menu and select the "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool". Then I chose Proton 5.0-9 because 5.13 wouldn't work. Finally, I selected "Set Launch Options" and added "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" .
Using Ubuntu 20.04 on an Intel PC w/ onboard Intel graphics. This includes the latest Intel open source driver with Vulkan 1.2. Still TS failed to start until I added "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" to the launch options.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% --xwayland
Windowed mode displays the GNOME shell around the game window but doesn't scale the game window. The result is that the game window is effectively clipped.
The Playdek in-game audio chat system is pretty flaky.
