I couldn't play past the Van

Any letter keys didn't work. Esc, Tab, Ctrl worked, for example. Keyboard layout didn't matter.

Chose the native Linux version, proton doesn't work here

Tinker Steps:Other

Settings -> Compatability -> Choose Steam Linux Runtime. The Proton version doesn't work. The game opens initially with the wrong resolution, but after changing it, it plays well.
