Tinker Steps:Set launch options

Instability:Frequently
See https://github.com/FunkyFr3sh/cnc-ddraw for alternative ddraw - place in C&C game folder (will overwrite original ddraw.dll) and make sure to use launch command to make Proton actually use it. Works great once installed, but be aware original ddraw may be redownloaded on game update or verification of game files.

Works perfectly as expected
The CD version of this game has worked in Wine for years. The Steam version works identically, as far as at least the first couple of missions.
