PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
It was essential to use the "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1" launch option. Otherwise the game is sluggish to the point to being unplayable.
Needs to be launched with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
Uppon launch, the game crashes without even creating a window, unless I set the "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" launch option (under properties > general > set launch options)
With "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1", the game runs normally

I needed to launch it with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1

I would also like to notice that, as happened with another game I tested, it could crash uppon launch when installed to a non unix filesystem, for example, a ntfs or fat formated hard drive partition. But I haven't tryied testing this on this specific title.
The keyboard controls won't work at all, rendering the game unplayable from the very beggining (I wasn't able to test with a gamepad yet).
Even though some clickteam fusion (the game engine used for these games) hotkeys work (like 'M' for mutting the sound and 'F2' to reset the game) wich indicates that the keyboard input is being recognized at least to some degree, the arrow keys for navigating the menu and the 'z' and 'x' key for confirming and canceling are not working at all.
I have already tried proton experimental, 6.3-7, 6.19-GE-2, with and without steam overlay, using gnome (x11+gdm) and lxde (x11+openbox), and even running directly with wine (6.0.1) but nothing works. I tryied copying some save files from a working windows installation but also without success.
I'm very puzzled that nobody is experiencing the same issues =S.
Needs to be installed on an unix filesystem AND launched with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
To get it to work under steamplay (proton), besides launching the game "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%", I had to make sure the game was installed in a unix file system. I suspect this may be true to any game on steamplay but I haven't tested with other games yet. When I installed proton and steam linux runtime to my ext4 formated root filesystem, on $HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/ , and the game was installed in the same location, it launched successfully (using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1) but when I moved the install location for xeodrifter to an ntfs formated partition, it did not launched anymore, no window was ever created and it just crashed after a moment. Again, I think this may be related to any steamplay game, not only xeodrifter.
