Perfect. I wish all games could work as well as this one
It's also a great game. Probably the best co-op VR game I have played. My only criticism is that the XP level system is way too steep. So much so that a "level 20" "piece of wood with a nail in it" type weapon has an order of magnitude more damage than a level 10 "anti-materiel rifle" type weapon. It makes it difficult to play co-op multiplayer with friends, as you need to be VERY careful to level up at exactly the same rate, otherwise it's just too uneven.
GTFO 1.0 release is basically unplayable on Linux/Proton/SteamPlay, especially B-tier and below, due to poor performance in foggy areas
Extremely low FPS, sometimes with mouse lag over half a second. Disabling "depth of field" and some other settings removed the mouse lag. Lowering resolution to 1920x1080 and disabling antialiasing helped make the early levels playable. Switching to a desktop machine with significantly more power (Ryzen 7 + RTX 2060, also running Linux/proton) did NOT help, if anything it was worse.
Unplayable on fog levels.
Tried multiple proton versions, including experimental and egg roll.
other bugs e.g. 'infinite drop' probably unrelated to proton - this new release of GTFO seems to be buggy as hell
Updated my earlier report because GTFO plays perfectly these days
Black screen, no game
Unity mainwindow launches and immediately hangs with a black screen. Meanwhile VR HMD is stuck on the SteamVR loading screen. Tried on standard and experimental proton, main and beta branches of game
Borked. I am returning returnal..
Tried all suggestions from here
Game freezes before main menu. Additionally, it installs some Epic Online Services which I don't want - these run in the background consuming 100% CPU after launcing the game, until I manually kill the processes.
As long as they've visited this page and know what to do to fix it, it's perfectly playable
Changed Vive resolution to 100% from default
Initially unplayable due to bug with default resolution
Please, "mighty coconut", change your game's default resolution to 100% so that it works out-of-the-box on Linux.
