It feels completely identical to Windows, it is impossible to tell the difference, even with PhysX enabled.
I also tested a separate machine running Debian 12 with a Xeon-E2124 and GTX 1080, results were the same. I could not be happier with the experience of playing this game on Linux.
Game is far too laggy on Linux to be playable in a remotely competitive fashion.
Sometimes the audio would be super crackly and distorted, mostly when the framerate dropped.
Game runs at ~120fps with minor frame drops in Windows. Using the same settings under Proton, I got no higher than 30fps.
This game has pretty horrible performance issues for a lot of users on Windows as well, so there's a strong chance this could be improved with future performance updates.
Game runs fine on lighter maps and in campaign, but large amounts of destruction and lag cause extreme input delay.

I would say the overall performance of the game is better under Proton than it is natively on Windows, though when the game does run poorly, the input lag makes it unplayable.
