With Proton Experimental it froze then crashed during the new game cinematic, but upon switching to GE, it ran smoothly.

I tried older versions of Proton suggested from earlier reports, but the opening cinematic showed only the subtitles with no picture when I did so. Running it in GE should fix everything. Only a bit into the game, but no issues so far.
