I git cloned Kawariki into:
/home/lolmaus/.steam/debian-installation/compatibilitytools.d
Restarted Steam.
Selected Kawariki in Protolife's Properties in the Compatibility section.
Ran the game.
Installed Kawariki dependencies as prompted.
Selected 1x scale in game's Graphics settings.
Game windows opens, but it is full black and there are only background mechanical noices
In fullscren, the systray becomes briefly visible when clicking.
Without tinkering, the screen is back. I found two ways to fix the issue.
Either via the native Linux version, set
LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
as game launch option (or run the game by launching the Protolife binary out of steam). The other option is using Proton 5.13-6. This is the only Proton version that worked for me.
Runs, but is just an all-black screen with background music.
Tried with 4 different proton versions: GE-8, 4.2-9, 7.0-6, and 9.0. Fails on all. Do not buy Protolife if you're on Linux / Steamdeck.
Doesn't start
Works out of the box
Using default Proton (v7.0-4)
At least i can see the logo at the start of the game :D Crashes before menu is loaded
Doesnt start - since proton 4.11 at least the cursor is visible in front of the still black screen ;)
screen turns black for half a second then the process ends.
Crashes after splash screen.
