I do remember experiencing issues with Proton Experimental and other Proton versions, but after settling on Proton 8.0-4 (which should be the current stable version at the time of writing), the in-game cinematics work, the (Live2D?) menu background works, my controller is supported, and I have yet to encounter any issues in the game.

the game works fine as long as you exit the game properly instead of turn the steamdeck off while in the middle of the game
when you turn off steamdeck and turn it on again upon activating the game there's a sound related error that makes the game crash and not work anymore no matter what you do(changing proton, changing update channel etc). problem fixed when uninstalled and reinstalled. tested multiple times of activating and exit the game, works fine so when playing do not turn off the steamdeck, exit the game properly and then turn it off.
Set fps and refreshrate to 40.
Just tap "No" on the pop-up that asks to run the game in compatibility mode.
There may be an issue with the Cinematics and the Menu but nothing major.
Half of the Pre-rendered Cinematics are borked but they can be skipped. You really shouldn't even be playing if you haven't seen the anime or read the manga but even then you should still get the rest of the story no problem.
There may be an issue with the Cinematics and the Menu but nothing major. It has major stuttering on driver 470 on the GTX1070 but driver 495.44 with proton 6.3-8 is a walk in the park.
It is possible to enjoy but this might make me dual boot.
Mostly just Anti-Aliasing issues but this games is always like that, just not this bad.
A lot of pauses as well as a few stutters.
Not major but the menu background and some Cinematics had major errors.
This is an easy fix.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1
- The game drops down to around 30fps while loading areas for the first time (even if it seems like it should have already been loaded in a cutscene). Disabling esync greatly mitigates though does not completely eliminate the issue.- It also massively helps with load times, cutting them down from 6-7 seconds to less than 2 usually on my SSD.
- Proton-6.12-GE-1 was used to fix the main menu backgrounds not displaying, audio sync issues, and give a noticeable performance boost.
- Feral GameMode was used to boost performance.
- Set the Windows version to "Windows 7" in
winecfg
for an additional performance bump.
- Game had a strange white border around it when windowed. This is a game bug however and not specific to Proton.
- Game does not adequately support keyboard/mouse. This is a design decision for the game, and completely unrelated to Proton.
- There is a bug on the materials section of the results screen where you are stuck to the last option and cannot move to select the other materials without being sent to the bottom of the list. It appears to be a game bug and not specific to Proton
I should preface my expeirence with the fact that I am running on a budget laptop, if it wasn't clear from my system specs. I'll retest on my main PC in future. The tl;dr is that the game runs very well with my specs and reasonably well overall.
- Game runs relatively well in my tests (up to the end of the first mission), once everything had loaded there was no real performance impact with esync disabled.
- Disconnecting my external monitor gave a more stable framerate, but it wasn't a big issue for me so I kept it connected
- Played at 720p windowed, with all settings at the lowest. Did not attempt to increase any settings.
- Tested with a Steam Controller
- Tested with desktop compositing enabled (KDE Plasma)
- Disabling may help with maintaining framerate
Overall, a very enjoyable experience on Linux with this hardware, so much so that I feel confident playing further.
Game runs stable and is playable
When in the mission result screens the audio begins to crack and to slow down but as soon as you leave the results the audio went back to normal.
For me using a wired Xbox 360 Controller the right trigger was constantly pulled so while in some menus the marker went down to the last selection and i had to pull the left trigger halfway to counter this behavior. Installing xboxdrv solved this issue but made problems with other games. In the end I installed xinput for this game through Protontricks and now the controller behaves as intended.
As mentioned before the main menu background is not loading but other than that everything runs fine and no problem with video playback/cutscenes.

Only played the first levels of Attack Mode. Apart from the main menu background not loading and the game occasionally becoming unresponsive when minimizing the window it seems to be perfectly playable. At max settings the FPS appeared to dip into the 40-50s at times but performance was otherwise good too.

starts but images are missing from the title screen and menu. Crashes when it starts to load a game

The game starts and allows you to create a save as well as use the Menu, but swapping to Full Screen doesn't work correctly (but works after a relaunch) and the game crashes when you try to load into a game.

wont start at all

Menu loads (and gamepad works), crashes as soon as you try to get ingame

Managed to open to the main menu, however crashes after selecting attack mode. Expedition mode just hangs after character selection.
