Native Linux version is borked for me. Forcing it to run with Proton works, but with some issues. I needed a dual analog controller to play.
Keyboard and mouse controls were only able to move the camera vertically and strafe, so I was only able to turn directions to move about properly using my controller.
The left/right camera movements with the right analog stick often remain moving even when I let go, so I have to move it back the opposite way to get the camera aligned in the desired direction, and it's regularly something I have to compensate for while I'm playing.
I walked towards one of the areas that had buildings reaching out into the water via some docks, and as soon as I tried to go on the docks to explore said buildings, the game kind of restarted itself, sending me back to the starting area and displaying the title screen over again. I'm not sure if this was a bug, or intended behavior and it just wasn't explained to the player, but it felt pretty bizarre and out of place to me.
Even though this game supposedly has native linux support, I couldn't get it to work right using the native version. My character was stuck at the title screen, and I could move the camera up and down with the mouse, but that was it.
Checking steam community support forums, this is a common issue for Linux and even Mac users from what I could tell, and the developer has stated multiple times there that they don't know why it's problematic on Linux, and I got the impression they didn't think there was anything they could do to fix it.
I'm not sure why the game continues to be listed as one that supports linux natively considering the issues present, but maybe there are others out there running linux that it works fine for, for all I know.
In any case it inspired me to try forcing steam to run it via proton instead (I used 4.11-11) and that is what ended up making the game at least playable on Linux for me, using a controller anyway.
