text is a little small someyimes and doesn't scale perfectly but in par with other font sizes on the deck

plug and play!
old game, therefore slightly glitchy graphcs but same as on windows
PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%
black area in distance
not sure if it is a graphical or game content bug but descriptive texts of scenarios, trains shares etc are with incorrect line breaks so some texts are displayed incomplete. Does not happen on my Win11 install.

As stated in other reports, you have to set the texture details to low in the settings. This bug is also present on Windows.
You need to disable DXVK to remove the graphics artifacts. See the launch options.
Low FPS
I managed to run this with the "high" texture setting, which is a surprise when it didn't use to work.
Ground terrain in the distance appears black, but shows up fine when you zoom in.
If for some reason the config tool doesn't work, you can tweak settings in A-Train9.ini under the steamapps/common/A-Train folder.
Setting the textures to low in the settings menu allows the game to start, however the issue with the game not starting with high texture settings is also present on native windows, so not a proton issue.
Switching texture detail to low results in the game running perfectly.
I am asked if I want to play or if I want to start the configuration tool. After selecting one of them and clicking play, nothing happens.
Tried the demo. No sound; graphics running at ~1FPS. Utterly unplayable. Didn't bother trying to troubleshoot.
In the config tool, set Textures to "Low" for game to work ("High" does not work in Windows 10 either so not a direct fault of Proton). Ran several hours with anisotropic 16x filter, anti-aliasing on, HDR on high, not see any issues.
Setting textures to high causes the game to run with a black screen and the log is flooded with framebuffer errors Setting shadow resolution to high makes the game crash Running the game at 4k will cause the game to only render UI Anti-aliasing doesn't seem to do anything Forcing anti-aliasing via the driver causes similar issues to setting texture or shadow resolution
