Initially, the game will crash on startup. This can be fixed by deleting the "Movies" Folder from your install. Second, you'll find that the game doesn't render anything. This can be fixed by installing "D8VK." Simply download D8VK and add D3D8.dll to your game directory, then create a DLL Override. This can be done via Protontricks if you're launching via Steam, or via Lutris from the Runner options menu. Just put down "D3D8.dll=n,b" One last thing, if you've installed Empires Dawn of the Modern World via the Steam Launcher and aren't getting the "Loading" pop-up, this can be fixed by installing via Lutris. I've found the Lutris install script is good at grabbing whatever dependancies you may be missing. The Steam install worked for me the first time on my OLED I had already tinkered lots on, but Lutris was needed on the fresh Deck I had on the side.

Once you get past the three initial hurdles blocking you from booting the game at all, the game runs flawlessly from that point on! It's an absolute must play, and is great on the Deck!
